The new incarnation of the 1973 Buchla Music Easel is a portable, performance-oriented instrument as close as possible to the original. We have used the same circuits, mechanical design and graphic theme that made the original an ergonomic dream to grab hold of and create organic electronic music from the soul.

The Easel Command is the newly updated 208C in a standalone desktop form with MIDI and CV control. The 208C is the module itself for use in a Buchla 200e system.

The Buchla Music Easel can be as daunting as it is fascinating. Unlike most electronic music instruments that rely on simple oscillator shapes and character-infusing filters to shape them, the Music Easel has a very different sonic philosophy.
