Bright Chao are a result of a porting glitch made by SEGA in the HD version of Sonic Adventure 2, for Xbox, Playstation and PC platforms. They appear visually different instead of Shiny Two-tone Chao and Shiny Jewel chao, consisting of bright colours.

Bright Chao are shiny two-tone Chao from the HD remakes of Sonic Adventure 2 for Xbox, Playstation and PC platforms. However, due to a porting glitch, their appearance is very bright - hence the community nickname “Bright Chao”.

Exant64 recently released a mod that makes it so that Shiny Two-Tone Chao can appear properly! There is some weirdness, but you can now more freely raise Shiny Two-Tone Chao of different alignments and see the colors that they're supposed to have. Jun 10, 2022 · Bright chao are a pretty cool visual glitch. Unfortunately all shiny two-tones you breed will have this glitch in the HD ports of the game. Like another user mentioned, Chao World Extended (CWE) lets bright chao and shiny two-tone chao coexist with each other, and you can turn the former into the latter by feeding it a special fruit.

In the HD re-releases in Sonic Adventure 2 for Playstation, PC and Xbox systems, all Shiny Two-tones will appear extremely bright. These Chao are known as Bright Chao. The Chao Rangers race features Jewel Chao in the DC version of Sonic Adventure 2, whereas in the subsequent versions they are Shiny Chao.
