The Boeing Model 247 is an early American airliner, and one of the first such aircraft to incorporate advances such as all-metal (anodized aluminum) semimonocoque construction, a fully cantilevered wing, and retractable landing gear.

The twin-engine, 10-passenger monoplane blazes new trails in aviation, but will quickly be overtaken by the competing Douglas Aircraft's DC-2, and never take off commercially the way Boeing hopes it will.

The Boeing Model 247 twin-engine transport was the first American all-metal low-wing configuration that offered a clean aerodynamic design in the transport field. Although slightly smaller, it held only ten passengers, but was 50 to 70 mph faster than the Ford, Fokker and Boeing trimotors that it would replace.
