Aug 13, 2023 · The Yucca brevifolia ‘Blue’ is the Blue Joshua tree – a rare type of yucca tree with bluish-green leaves. Another name for this yucca tree is the ‘Sonoran Blue.’

A trunk-forming yucca that grows to 12 feet tall, with minimal branching near the top. Its distinctive powder blue leaves have a pronounced spine at the tip. Do not plant near human and pet traffic. In the summer the blue foliage is complemented by a showy 5 to 6 foot stalk of white flowers.

The blue yucca likes full sun, reflected heat, and grows best in rocky, desert soils that are well-draining. It is drought-resistant and needs very little supplemental irrigation except during hot, dry summers.
