Thieves here primarily target daily drivers and economy cars, and often mark vehicles prior to the theft in various ways (chalk mark on a tire, a piece of colored tape or ribbon, deliberately scratched/keyed paint, childrens' stickers even) prior to the theft.

Edit: organized kidnappings for sex trafficking makes a bit more sense, but you're probably too old for that business. Don't they mostly kidnap children?

Sep 17, 2015 · I've seen lots of cars in town with blue tape along the back windshield. This isn't the blue tape some car washes use but a strip of blue tape horizontally along the center of the back windshield.

To attach the pieces, I’m going to make a square of painters tape on the surface of the car, then duct tape from the cardboard to the square of painters tape. It is supposed to be sunny and 40-50 degrees while the parts are on their car.

Seems like every day I see some car with what appears to be ~3in painters tape on the top left and top right corners of their windscreen taping the glass to the top of their car.
