Jun 13, 2011 · In CA, year after year, the success rate for deer hunters is 11-18% (depending on which #'s you use). 2x2's are normal, 3x3 is a good deer, anything better than that is a wall hanger, even though I've got a coupla good forked horns on the wall. A BT weighing 175 lbs is pretty much at the top of the scale. Coues are even harder to hunt.

Those friends of mind all had .243 rifles with scopes on them and they did very well with them. They all tried to get me to buy a .243. Now my analysis between the two rifles I owned for blacktail deer hunting.

There is a small population of mule deer in the Mohave National Preserve and, other than that, most reside east of the Sierra Crest.
