Bird City has received $15,000 from the Kansas Department of Transportation to implement Phase 1 of the Safe Routes to School Program (SRTS). This state program focuses on unsafe sidewalks that children use when walking and biking to and from school; encouraging children to walk or bicycle to school more safely.

The Bird City Business Development Scholarship is a scholarship program offered by the Bird City Century II Development Foundation to individuals wishing to expand their education, and live and work in Bird City.
Bird City becomes E-Community
The following communities were granted $775,000 in tax credits, enabling them to raise more than $1 million in seed funding for entrepreneurs in their respective communities: Augusta; Bird City; Chase County; Kiowa County; Linn County; Marion; and Woodson County.
