The Planar Sphere Mod is a very old mod, which has been improved by multiple authors over the years. Despite its undeniable game balance issues and at times overbearing silliness, it remains one of my favorite BG2 mods of all time, because it is, quite simply, fun to play through.

The Planar Sphere is one of the toughest "side quests" you can do so early in BG2 and one of the quests where you can get absolutely stuck if you are not sufficiently prepared (the other off the top of my head is the Planar Prison). You are right, you will need a magical blunt weapon... there is no other truly efficient methods as far as I know.

My party was planning on taking on the planar sphere stronghold quest, but can't get past the very first golem in the storage room. They have tried three times, but every time the fighters get cursed and can't heal (even with potions). At the same time, they can't deal enough damage to get past it.

Jun 1, 2014 · My theory is that perhaps for whatever reason the script that causes the travel in planes doesn't work,since as I recall in the original BG2 right after talking with Lavok there's a loading screen which I assume is because of the change in area and only afterwards you can exit the sphere, but I didn't get any such loading screen.

I got through the Planar Sphere quite early and easily (I did Umar Hills first) but with a very arcane-heavy party: two sorcerers (PC+mod NPC, Adrian), an enchanter (Xan), Viconia, Dorn and Yoshimo. The two tough points were Tolgerias and the Demon area.

It adds lots of flavor content to the Planar Sphere stronghold, including a few mini-quests and a series of "visitors" to the sphere (which usually end in battles). It also adds a large quest which is super crazy and super difficult, and will send you across …

The Planar Sphere Mod fills the previously rather empty BG2 mage stronghold ("Planar Sphere") with characters, encounters, and mini-quests, and also adds a large, over-the-top but fun quest about saving the multiverse from an evil archsorcerer (ch2*).
