Elf is an excellent race to choose when playing a ranged character. Their ability to get 19 Dex allows them to get an extra +1 ranged THAC0 at character creation, which stacks with their Bow bonus. They also make great thieves for the same reasons, good rangers.

Nov 28, 2017 · the shorty bonus is popular, human dual is popular, orc str/con is popular, gnome illusionist free kit is popular, elf thaco with common weapons is popular... etc .. classes have more balance issues. Some classes and combos are just stronger for max/min.

A half-elf could only rise to level 5 mage and level 7 cleric, while a full elf could rise to, I think it was level 9 as a mage. In 1st edition Basic, only a full elf could be a mage at all. In fact, the class was originally called "Elf".

Dec 23, 2020 · I'm currently playing an elf Fighter/Mage/Thief. Soloed BG1 and now I'm soloing SoD. Honestly, bringing companions slows me down more than speeding up the game. And at this stage, he's quite unstoppable with full buffs.

Jan 16, 2022 · With an elf you can get dexterity 19, plus the elven bow bonus, which makes you a really decent archer. Early on archery is king, so you'll have a far easier start to the game than most. If you do want to use the canon party members, you'll have a lot of fighters - but the party would still be viable.

Just pure, straight up the most powerful class (es), race, and proficiency you would create to OWN the game from Candlekeep to Bhaal's Throne!

Oct 27, 2020 · When running the trilogy, the dual is mainly a fighter in BG1/SoD, and mainly a mage in BG2/TOB (which can attack using the rest of their round when not casting spells).
