Robeson started its existence with kitchen and staple ware and also ended there. Ironically, domestic pocket knife manufacture returned to Camillus, NY where it originated in 1896. But, during the peak years from 1900 to 1965, The Robeson Cutlery Co. designed and produced one of the highest quality and undisputed BEST pocket knives ever made.

Aug 25, 2017 · Also, Au Sabot makes a knife called "Pradel" in that same classic jackknife style. Second to last a douk douk; big, solid slipjoint with a nice thin edge. And lastly, a Capucin style regional knife marked "222 Garanti", which I believe is made by Thiers-Issard. That is the only one I wouldn't recommend.

You will also understand the difference in knife patterns and how best a certain knife can be described. Any edition of Levine's would be good to own.

I hope you don’t take offense at my response, but IMHO the problem you describe is more inherent in your premise than in the brand of knife. An edge that stays “hair popping sharp” is unrealistic.

Sheffield England is where pocket knife manufacturing as we know it today took root. Early cutlers from this region were incredible craftsmen & they made knives under many different names over the years. Due to the large numbers of different brands, there are many Sheffield names for which we do not dedicate specific categories.
