Aug 12, 2015 · I initially had designed the cases using 3" as the bottle diameter. I tried measuring a couple extra times and found the circumference to be 9.5". Using good old pie I found that the actual diameter was 3.025", that .025" isn't much but multiplied by 6 it could be. So to be safe I changed the bottle size to 3-1/8".

Jun 18, 2015 · A standard beer bottle is 2.5 inches in diameter and approximately 9" tall, so a 10"x15"x10" would be a tight fit. 11"x16"x10" would be comfortable. A standard 24 quart milk crate is 13"x19"x11", so it would work but that leaves a fair amount of slop.

I wanted something cheap, light protected, usable with a variety of bottle sizes, and stackable. Additionally, I wanted to be able to use, reuse, and / or replace the dividers at will.

I found these Roughneck Storage Boxes at Home Depot that work well for bottle cases and carboy bins. They are water-tight, and stack-able. The Medium size fits tall-12oz and 22oz, and the Small size fits stubby-12oz.
