It covers the basics, and intermediate and beyond of basic beekeeping. So, for a quick read covering all the basics, get First Lessons in Bee Keeping. Once you've finished it, advance on to The Hive and The Honey Bee.

Douglas Whynott's Following the Bloom If wanting a "quick guide", probably should decide what type of beekeeping you will do then get one that mostly covers that. IE, some books are specifically for top bar hives, treatment free beekeeping, or mainstream langstroth beekeeping.

Sep 11, 2015 · If a '70s book is a goldmine then the 6th edition must be a diamond mine. Wonder which one has more value. Then again I have never read a bee book before. The local library only has 3 very worn out basic books. Wonder what I have been missing if not read any before? Now I have something to go by just in case the winter time here is a bit boring.

Fictional books on bee and/or beekeeping
Jan 17, 2005 · The Secret Life of Bees was interesting, but it more of a "chic book" I did learn a couple of things about bees by reading it though. I actually listened to A Country Year on audiobooks and it was pretty good and I learned some info about bees from that one too.
