The Botswana Defence Force (BDF, Tswana: Sesole Sa Botswana) is the military of Botswana. The main component of the BDF is the Botswana Ground Force; there is also an air wing and a riverine patrol contingent attached to the ground forces, with 10 Panther airboats and 2 Boston Whaler Raider class. In 2005 Botswana Defence Force (BDF) awarded the Spanish company Indra a €7.1 million contract for the development and implementation of a full air defence command and control system.

Lupant (Fig. 181, p119) also illustrates the Botswana Prisons Flag (based on information from an actual flag in my collection) which consists of three vertical stripes of green, white and green with the Botswana Prisons badge in the centre.

The flags, referred to as servicemen in millitary language have been code named Sechaba and Thebe from the BDF slogan of Thebe ya Sechaba. The army culture treats the two flags as part of the army and as being enlisted in military activities.
