Oct 24, 2015 · The BCD file did exist on my system, but I figured it'd be better to generate a new one, so I used the rd /s /q C:\Boot command - using the command prompt on the Windows 8.1 recovery disc - to remove the old BCD file.

Jul 16, 2015 · So I think I may have a bigger problem than a corrupted BCD file. I use a dual boot with Xubuntu, and the EFI boot partition shows as fat32 in Gparted. I may also have messed up the bootcat.cache file, but I think it is ok.

Sep 18, 2014 · I tried using Easy BCD to reset my entire bcd, that led me to the point where I had to recover my boot partition. Tried setting msconfig to "Normal startup", it just keeps going back to "Selective startup" with everything checked. So yeah, I have no idea how to solve this, if anyone could help that'd be great.
