Dec. 9, 2024, marks the 43rd anniversary of the arrest and political imprisonment of world renowned journalist, prolific author of over 12 books, as well as veteran of the Philadelphia branch of the Black Panther Party, Mumia Abu Jamal.

Apr 2, 2025 · This denial by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ends Mumia’s Pennsylvania court challenge to overturn his conviction. Judge Lucretia Clemons presided over Mumia’s case since December 2021 and, without a hearing, issued a denial on March 31, 2023.

Feb 26, 2024 · Noel Hanrahan: Mumia Abu Jamal has been in prison now for 42 years. He survived three execution attempts: one on the streets of Philadelphia in 1981 and two literal execution warrants. [It] has been a real struggle for Mumia to communicate with us and to maintain his health. In the last eight years, Mumia has had many health struggles.

May 2, 2023 · Abu-Jamal’s grandson, Jamal Mumia Hart III, traveled from the Bay Area to discuss his grandfather’s ongoing fight for freedom. He also spoke about the “Love Not Phear” campaign which works to centralize activist efforts to free Abu-Jamal.

From April 21-25, 2025, the Mumia Freedom Tour will be visiting the Bay Area to educate people about the path to Mumia’s freedom. Julian Assange and Leonard Peltier have been freed. Mumia can be freed too!

Apr 20, 2023 · On March 31, 2023, Judge Clemons issued a ruling on the latest appeal filed by Abu-Jamal where she rejected claims that materials in six boxes on the Abu-Jamal case withheld by prosecutors for 36 years constituted a constitutional violation like the violation she acknowledged in the Riddick case.

Apr 12, 2021 · Former Black Panther and revolutionary journalist Mumia Abu-Jamal was recently diagnosed with COVID-19 and congestive heart failure. He was hospitalized for four days, and each of his limbs were shackled separately to the hospital bed. The shackles dug into his skin and caused horrific injuries. The Only Treatment is Freedom.
