The banded barbet (Lybius undatus) is a species of bird in the family Lybiidae. It is found in Eritrea and Ethiopia. The little-known banded barbet is very widely distributed throughout Ethiopia between 300 and 2400 metres (1000–8000 feet).

A medium-sized barbet with a black back, a barred belly, and a red patch above the bill. There is considerable geographical variation; the throat varies from speckled to solidly black, and the head can be black with a thin white eyebrow, or black-and-white.
