British Transport Police (BTP) are looking to recruit qualified Transferee or Re-joiner ARV Officers as Police Constables at our Armed Policing Specialist Hubs located in Birmingham, London and Manchester.

The BTP fields a number of Armed Response Vehicle (ARV) Officers who patrol outside major rail hubs. Vehicles employed in the ARV role include Volvo V70 D5 estates and Mercedes Vito vans. The ARVs are fitted with radios and carry tactical gear (see weapons and equipment below).

All BTP Firearms Officers are trained to the national Armed Response Vehicle (ARV) role profile in line with the College of Policing National Police Firearms Training Curriculum (CoP NPFTC).

Our firearms officers are trained to the same national Armed Response Vehicle (ARV) profile used across all UK police forces, and are able to provide a swift and capable response to live incidents and emerging threats.

Feb 7, 2020 · The ARV course is a national qualification, BTP does the full ARV course. Some forces run it slightly different, I think the only real difference with BTP is they do some sort train breaching ops, where they are taught to enter and clear a moving train.
