Nov 18, 2011 · RB(K) was a c1970 conversion from RF. The LMR did not receive RU vehicles but instead had restaurant cars with 24 first class seats (built 1961-2). Almost all were rebuilt as restaurant buffet cars c1969-70 and reclassified RB(K) often written simply as RBK.

Oct 25, 2015 · by 1980 there was a dearth of Scottish Region allocated Restaurant Car's full stop - almost all internal services having gone over to purely Mk1 RMB's - in fact I can find only one non anglo-scot service (Edinburgh-Inverness & Return) that had anything other than an RMB - and that was an RBR.

The Mk1 became the standard design for all new coaches between 1951 and 1964. Built using standard components - frame, coach ends and bogies - the body sides constructed from panelled sections with standard door and window fittings.
These carriages were initially ordered by the London Midland Region of BR to D17 with B1 bogies. They were built in two batches, the first four coaches by BRCW, the remainder being shared between the BR works at Ashford and Swindon. May 19, 2013 · as mike said, 325 was a BR mk1 RF (dia. 17) - there's mention of it in parkin's mk1 book in that it ran in lined maroon but was never painted/renumbered into the full train. 1979 P5 book states that it (along with the mk1 special build 2900/2901/2902) was converted in 1977 from vac brake/steam heat to air brake/ETH and B5 bogies.
