We therefore compared the gene expression of BNIP3 with that of other pro-apoptotic members of the Bcl-2 family in effector CTL by real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR). We report that only BNIP3 is transcriptionally up-regulated in CTL and that it contributes to CTL AICD.
