Sep 29, 2020 · I have a 2018 5 series (idrive 6 ) and a 2020 X5 with idrive 7. I noticed 2 very small differences, among others that I wanted to question. On the 5 when the nav is set, there is a marker on the gas gauge that indicates fuel level at destination.

Feb 2, 2020 · iDrive 7.0 is definitely more advanced than 6.0 and offers more features, however I find that 6.0 is just a lot easier to use and has a better layout with less clutter. 7 definitely has more sub menu's than 6 (although both still have more than necessary in general) but finding settings is easier in 6.

Aug 27, 2019 · You can't upgrade from iDrive 6 to iDrive 7 as it requires a lot of changes to the car's electronics. The iDrive 7 in the G30, like you have, is a lite version of iDrive 7, but no one knows how extensive the changes were to the G30 to get it in place.
