Mar 23, 2014 · A guy in Germany named Michael Kabbert has now made the front sidepanels in carbonfiber. The sidepanels that BMW had made in 2003/2004 are a few centimeters to high and to long. So they don't properly fit. The carbonfiber panels have the same fit as the original panels on the Z1. So they fit much better.

Mar 27, 2017 · Someone should hold the boot lid. Because you have to remove the boot hinges and support it. This is simply because the boot lid is attached to the rear quarter panels. The good thing though is once the panels are off you can just put the lid back because the boot catch will hold it in place. DO tape it on as well though.... see towbar pic.

Mar 21, 2024 · They can use the moulds to make panels to order. I think there is a small fortune to be made by doing this. Try a US BMW dealer - if the parts are available they should be able to order them. They won't be cheap though!

BODYWORK PANEL REMOVAL. The composite body panels are attached to the car by 'forks' cast into the inside of the panel which locate over a rubber mounting shaped like a cotton reel. Each panel slides fore and aft to locate onto the rubber mountings, and is then secured by a series of dome headed 'torx' bolts, each with a rubber washer.

Feb 8, 2024 · BMW have commissioned replacement panels in the past as and when there is sufficient accrued demand. As suggested by Michael I would be inclined to contact BMW Classic direct to register your requirements rather than rely on your local BMW dealer.
