Apr 13, 2023 · Run-flat tires actually cost you about 1% in fuel economy. They're also heavier. That more than negates any fuel economy gain by not having a spare tire's weight on the car. The new X1 (U11) only comes with non-run-flat tires.

Oct 29, 2023 · If there's a bubble, the tire is not safe to drive on. The new U11 X1 comes exclusively with non-run-flat tires, as does the new G60 5 Series. My next BMW, a G20 3 Series, will come with run-flats, but they will be replaced with non-run-flats as part of new car prep. Hopefully, you bought your X1 with the optional spare tire.
