Jan 4, 2024 · The N47 only got updated timing chain gear from the factory towards the end of 2015. Engines made before this will have the old timing gear fitted, unless these have been changed during the recall that took place.

Mar 8, 2022 · Generally speaking, the N47 is a pretty great engine. Decent performance with loads of torque available low in the rev range. People will say that the N47 is the worst BMW engine ever due to the timing chain issue. The timing gear on these engines are known to fail, to the point that BMW issued a recall for the timing chain gear a little while.

Mar 25, 2020 · My bmw 118d (N47 engine) has all of a sudden gotten this roughness in the idle on a cold start, the whole car will nearly shake in a cycle but once drive for a few minutes that roughness will go away, the car also seems to get very heat which it never done before.

Feb 19, 2023 · Sort of, pretty sure it's the fuel pipe or filter from the lift pump to the hpfp. Doubtful it's the filter but watching the lift pump speed it's about 2 3rds the speed it should be, I tried running a hose from the lift pump to the hpfp and it looked like it was running at specified speed.

Jul 1, 2023 · The N47 has a 'rear' timing so to change it you have to dismantle half the engine and the gearbox, generally the price of this operation in my country is 3x more expensive than for the M47. From my experience the N47 is marginally quieter and uses 0.5l/100km less but M47 is cheaper to maintain.

Feb 12, 2024 · Vjerojatno su svi upoznati sa famoznim lošim razvodnim lancem na BMW N47 motorima i prema svemu što čujem i čitam preporuka je zamijeniti isti do 200tkm. Taj lanac je nekako postao babaroga i svi ga se boje a realno jel zna tko osobu kojoj je pukao lanac i napravio problem? Al ok, kažu na internetu da postoje slučajevi i vjerovat ću tome.
