ALPINA is a successful medium-sized company, that develops, produces and also distributes internationally exclusive automobiles, automotive spare parts and accessories, for 50 years. The second business division is the trade with great wines of famous regions.

The Alpina B10 V8 S was based on an E39 540i saloon produced by Alpina from January 2002 to May 2004. The engine is an 8 cylinder petrol producing 375 bhp and 510 nm of torque to the rear driving wheels. 0–60 miles per hour in 5.4 seconds and a top speed of 176 miles per hour.

Alpina created four main variants for the E39 BMW 5 Series, all of which featured the B10 name. The B10 3.2 and the B10 3.3 were powered by straight six engines, while the B10 V8 and B10 V8 S were powered by V8 units.

Some cars like the B10 Biturbo are expensive to run because the turbos tend to wear out after 30000-50000km.
