1 As an E93 M3 owner, I think the grill stripes on an M Sport 335 is completely acceptable. I would shake my head at a non M Sport car with the grill stripes, though. They are cool looking and I they are legit on your car, OP. Post a pic after you put them on.

I guess this is the base grill which you can replace with the M Sport Pro package or M50 (which you see in most press photos). Personally not a fan, it makes the M Sport Pro option a requirement. Reply reply

May 30, 2023 · Hmmm that’s interesting- x40i m-spot professional package has red/blue brake calipers, shadow light lights, illuminated kidney grille, m sport exhaust, and extended shadowline trim. Is it standard on the m60i or does it even give you the option separate?

Nov 14, 2021 · M Sport vs Sport is the aerodynamic/cosmetic features (front and rear bumpers + side skirts) along with steering wheel, ebrake handle, door scuff/sill plates and slightly lower springs. Only chimed in because I hunted down a vin matched E9X M Sport for over 6 months and did my due diligence.

I think the issue is they dont belong on non m cars because they 'aren't m', although that's getting a bit nebulous these days. However, they don't belong on m cars either, because m cars were traditionally about non-shouty performance, and putting grill stripes on it is going 'hey, look at me!'. Either way you go, it ends up tacky.

I think it’s because BMW moved very much into the luxury space, away from the sports sedan looks of previous generations. A nice “fix” for keeping the grill with m colors would be to add matching stripes going all the way around the hood and front bumper, in line with the grill.
