Jun 26, 2022 · Plus BMW provided the engine so I guess there was a partnership between them to run these cars together. IIRC from '95-'98, both the McLaren and BMW works teams ran F1 GTRs.The F1 GTRs ran by BMW were called BMW-Mclaren F1 GTR. And the ones ran by McLaren were called Mclaren F1 GTR-BMW.

Aug 30, 2020 · The same principle came from the Sauber F1 program where the team that worked on the hybrid systems for BMW Sauber were directly in charge of developing the i8. Obviously, the i8 isn’t F1 tech strapped straight out of the Sauber car, but they are the F1 Team applying the tech directly to a ‘green sports car’ as they saw desirable.

Jun 3, 2018 · Unless you're Ferrari you can't afford to keep developing the car at full capacity whilst also designing the new car for new regs, and even they have to switch focus eventually. BMW Sauber had a choice to make: put say 60% of resources into this year or 75% of resources into next year and design a car that could give us an advantage for 1-3 years.

Sep 28, 2016 · With support from Williams F1, the BMW V12 LM was created, utilising the same engine as used in the McLaren F1 racing car and very fancy and sophisticated aerodynamics in order to make the car incredibly fast indeed. Two cars were built, numbered as #001/98 and #002/98 respectively. Naturally, the car was a failure of apocalyptic proportions.

Oct 27, 2022 · The most powerful race car to ever race at an FIA event was the Porsche 917/30, run by Rodger Penske. Whilst an amazing car (and series in general) this absolutely isn't true. The FIA have sanctioned top fuel events featuring cars well in excess of 1600hp. Edit: Gees apparently drag racing is unpopular here.
