Feb 20, 2021 · I have a 2003 530i and my dad and I have recently started looking at options for an upgrade. The main candidate for an engine swap is the B58 powerplant. Does anyone know weather or not the B58 shares the same engine mounts as the M54B30? And if so would I need to upgrade my transmission or other components to make full use of the swap?

Oct 30, 2023 · Engine would best be controlled by a standalone DME for this type of swap. Which prohibits it from passing emissions and most will also not support Valvetronic. N54/N55 can be done with a swap harness and canbus emulator with questionable reliability/quality...

Aug 31, 2019 · Converting an I6 E39 to M62 is a lot of work, not likely to be worth it IMO. Are you aware of how many different parts they used? Completely different subframes, steering systems, etc... even the rear-ends are different. You are better off sourcing an M62 E39 to start with.

Mar 12, 2024 · An engine swap is an incredibly complex thing. If you upgrade to a different M54 you’ll at least be able to reuse a lot of stuff. A B58 swap is pretty much out of the question.

Feb 17, 2021 · I made a DIY on replacing the stock B58 turbo. This also works if you're upgrading to a hybrid turbo like Pure800, Turbosystems Stage 1/2, Vargas GC/GC+, etc. Hope this helps. I also tried filming/editing in 4k this go around. Let me know if you guys see the difference.

Jun 4, 2017 · B58 turbo swap? I'm currently modded from the turbo back on my 2016 340 and was curious if anybody has swapped the stock turbo out yet on these cars. If anybody has, any recommendations on who to go with? Curious if jb4 also has any maps that could be used with a non stock turbo. Any info on the subject would be appreciated. Thanks!

Nov 16, 2009 · the subframe has to be swapped with one from an e39. the wiring harness will need to be done too as well as some of the brake components like the ABS module going from ASC to DSC (unless you already have DSC like 540iA's of the same year).
