Feb 27, 2021 · The N55 is in lots of other BMW's besides the two series and in much greater numbers. Have you tried asking your question in the 3/4 Series forums or the 5 Series or X5 forums? I'd think if this were a significant problem, there would be plenty of N55 equiped cars and SUVs with 100K miles in among those forum participants.

Dec 28, 2018 · Overall, the 2 series is pretty reliable, especially the M235's. The 2 series parts bin shares with the 3/4 series so many parts are plentiful (new and used) and for a BMW, decently cheap. Outside of the head and block and electrical gremlin troubleshooting, the car is generally easy to work on for a DIYer.
