The BAE Systems Tempest is a proposed sixth-generation fighter aircraft that is under development in the United Kingdom for the Royal Air Force (RAF). The aircraft is intended to enter service from 2035, gradually replacing the Eurofighter Typhoon.

Tempest is the UK’s future combat aircraft that will be delivered through the Global Combat Air Programme with sixth-generation capabilities to be one of the world’s most advanced, interoperable, adaptable and connected fighter jets in service.

Designing and developing a new combat aircraft like Tempest is a complex, multi-year engineering endeavour that involves advanced design, integration of cutting-edge technologies, rigorous testing, and collaboration to meet regulatory and airworthiness standards.

Team Tempest brings together the UK’s world leading industry and sovereign capabilities across future combat air’s four key technology areas: advanced combat air systems and integration (BAE Systems); advanced power and propulsion systems (Rolls-Royce); advanced sensors, electronics and avionics (Leonardo); and advanced weapon systems (MBDA).
