ASTM A193 Grade B8M Class 1 Specification - Boltport
ASTM A193 Grade B8M Class 1 is a standard material specification for corrosion resistant 316 stainless steel fasteners such as bolts, screws, studs, threaded rods and other externally threaded parts, for use in high tensile, high temperature and special purpose applications such as pressure piping & pressure vessels bolting.
Class 1 vs 2 Stainless - Portland Bolt
Jul 26, 2022 · A193 and A320 grades B8 and B8M are assumed to be Class 1 unless otherwise specified. Class 1 fasteners are carbide solution treated, while class 2 fasteners are carbide solution treated and strain hardened.
ASTM A193 Grade B8 Class 1 vs Class 2 - Boltport Fasteners
AISI 304/304L with carbide solution treatment can achieve mechanical requirements of A193-B8 Class 1 boltings and strain hardening can achieve mechanical requirements of A193-B8 Class 2 boltings. Find typical requirement for ASTM A193 Grade B8M Mechanical Properties.
ASTM A193 Grade B8M Bolts, Stud Bolts, Fasteners - Boltport
ASTM A193 Grade B8M is a material specification for high tensile stainless steel bolts, stud bolts, screws, threaded rods and similar fasteners, for high temperature applications.
ASTM A193 - Portland Bolt
Originally approved in 1936, this specification is heavily utilized in petroleum and chemical construction applications. The ASTM standard covers alloy steel and stainless steel bolting materials for high temperature or high-pressure service. This specification includes fasteners intended for use in pressure vessels, valves, flanges, and fittings.
Grades - ASTM A193
Grade B8M Class 1 fasteners require carbide solution treatment, while Class 2 fasteners require an additional strain hardening operation which increases the strength and reduces the susceptibility to galling.
ASTM A193 Grade B8M Class 1 - Boltport Fasteners
ASTM A193 Grade B8M Class 1 is a carbide solution treated 316/316L stainless steel bolting material with maximum tensile strength requirement of 75 ksi or 515 Mpa, yield of 30 ksi or 205 Mpa and hardness of 223 HBW. B8M Class 1 fasteners are used for bolting pipeline flanges and other process equipment intended for high temperature or high ...

It is highly encouraged to use a lubricant such as graphite-based anti-seize or molybdenum disulfide based anti-seize or other commercially available anti-galling compounds and assemble with a slow and continuously applied torque to avoid galling. Notes: Lubricated Clamp Load based on 75% of yield.
The difference between CL1 and CL2 in 316 B8M material.
B8M Class 2 is carbide solution treated and strain hardened whereas Class 1 is carbide solution treated only. The strain hardening increases the strength and can also reduce the chances of galling. Class 1 Min Tensile Strength = 75 KSI.
