As the title says I’m looking to get into an RS5 with the infamous 4.2 V8! I’m a college student and have saved up a lot of money to buy this car. I wanted to know if there was anything I should look out for and other issues that may arise as I get closer to the 100k miles mark.

Mar 22, 2020 · The B8.5 was tuned (APR Stage 2, ECU and TCU) and fast, but I worried that I was operating at the fringe of reliability. The RS5 is somewhat faster than the tuned B8.5, but I worry less because the components seem more appropriate for the power level - brakes, suspension, cooling, etc.

Jun 29, 2023 · The B8 RS5 came equipped with a NA 4.2-liter V8 engine and a 7-speed S-Tronic automatic transmission. We honestly prefer the newer 2.9L twin-turbo found in the B9 RS5, but still love a good-sounding V8.

May 16, 2020 · So, I made a choice to get into a B8.5 after selling by B9 RS5 a few months ago. Drove an extra car we have while looking for a well maintained B8.5 locally. In a sense, I’m probably justifying my purchase and I’m likely biased but who doesn’t think their own car is better.
