Jan 5, 2014 · This is a thread dedicated to info specific to the 3.6 VR6 & 4motion systems in the B6 Passat. Since picking up my 3.6 4motion wagon, I’ve found a ton of useful and interesting info through this forum.

The transverse-engine layout of the four-wheel drive version, marketed as 4Motion, dictated a switch from the Torsen centre differential of the B5, to the Haldex Traction multi-plate clutch. The change to the Haldex system also changes the handling closer to a front-wheel drive car.

Jun 14, 2005 · With 90/10 setting, why bother calling it "4Motion"? It's just FWD in disguise. Have you driven both systems?

Feb 8, 2017 · Own a 2006 Passat 3.6L V6 - 4 motion. As of late, my 4 motion isn't working. I basically only have drive on front wheels. Also have ESP switch lit up on the gear change console, and have traction symbol lit up in dash (ASR/ESP Symbol: what I call the "two snakes following the car" symbol.)

Oct 3, 2010 · The Haldex based 4motion system found in the R32, B6 Passat, etc... are torque based and power is transferred to the rear wheels when the torque "requirements" are met, but is not at full lock like the Quattro based systems.

Sep 10, 2006 · gen-IV torsen 4-motion uses open front and rear differentials with EDL (Electronic Diff Lock). it only works at slow speeds, it will apply the brake to a slipping wheel to steer torque to the other side with the goal of getting them turning at the same rate.

In the last days, I got H&R springs, new wheels and chrome mirror installed. I ordered a set of clear corners too. nice! what wheels? They're from Audi A6 (BBS RS861) wheels.
