The North American B-25 Mitchell is an American medium bomber that was introduced in 1941 and named in honor of Brigadier General William "Billy" Mitchell, a pioneer of U.S. military aviation. [2]

Forced to launch early, the crews of the 16 B-25's prepared their planes. Each of the crews had their own targets. The first group would be attacking Tokyo. They were still farther away from the Japanese homeland than originally anticipated. Fuel calculations weighed heavily on every crew.
