We have been producing Barolo for 100 years and we are still here! All our 2016 Barolos have a special edition label to celebrate our 100 years of history. We have waited for almost 30 years to vinify the single vineyard Cerretta separately, in order to have older vines. The wait is finally over!

Ideal age, for us, for the production of a Barolo Classico. The blend of these vineyards produces grace and power, combining them together with wonderful balance.

Established in 1920 by patriarch Lorenzo Scavino, Azelia is located in the commune of Castiglione Falletto. This small town is in a special and unique location, where the two main soils types of Barolo are stratified together, lending both power and elegance to the wines.

There’s a freshness of sweet violet on the nose, with liquorice and smoky woodland notes and a pomegranate core, slightly bloody. The long acid is tightly knit with velvety tannins. Graceful and powerful, the palate is soaked with the wines’s floral character, and austere on the finish – which is normal at this stage.

Meaning “foot of the mountain,” due to its proximity to the Alps, Piedmont wines including Barolo, Barberesco, Gattinara, Ghemme and Gavi all benefit from the slopes and terrain characteristic of the region. Nebbiolo, the dominant grape variety for reds, produces wines with tannic and acidic qualities that can also have fairly high alcohol content.
