Dec 20, 2020 · Axe-beaks are essentially Chocobos: they make no sense at all, and their very presence lends an unnatural and fairy-tale quality to the proceedings. Considering that the players spend most of their time fighting actual ghosts, talking animals, and defeating gods, I'd say Chocobos fit the setting better than sled-dogs.

This is presumably their main advantage over axe beaks (or would be, if not for the rest rule, which I recommend you modify or ignore).
