The Steyr AUG (German: Armee-Universal-Gewehr, lit. 'army universal rifle') is an Austrian bullpup assault rifle chambered for the 5.56×45mm NATO intermediate cartridge, designed in the 1960s by Steyr-Daimler-Puch, and now manufactured by Steyr Arms GmbH & Co KG.

The enhanced F88 (or EF88) Austeyr rifle is an exceptional weapon characterised by superior lethality, accuracy, ergonomics, reliability and modularity.

Manufactured in Australia, the F88 Austeyr rifle fires standard 5.56 x 45 millimetre ammunition. The F88 can be fitted with the different sights from the standard 1.5x sight, or the advanced combat optic gunsight (ACOG), and night weapon sights.

The Australian Defence Force's EF88 Austeyr rifle improves combat capability due to its superior accuracy and lethality, improved ergonomics, balance and increased mounting options for ancillary devices. The EF88 began entering service in mid-2016 and is replacing the F88 Austeyr.
