Oct 9, 2020 · Great tip! Enjoying 2-channel music surround using Auro-2D as compared to Dolby Audio. Did an A/B comparison between "Direct" mode and Auro-2D. Auro 2D was much truer to the PCM or FLAC signal compared to Dolby Audio. Thanks for drawn my attention. FYI: Using a Marantz AV7705 with Outlaw Audio Amps.

This is is one of my favorite "native" mixes. For fun, I toggled back and forth between upmixers. They all sounded pretty good, but none better than Auro-3D.

Sep 24, 2022 · Auro 2D would still work with an upfiring Atmos layout but those speakers would be ignored. Weirdly enough, there are a few models from Denon and Marantz that will let you apply Auro3D to a layout with upfiring Atmos speakers.

Aug 30, 2021 · Auro 3D was first introduced on Denon/Marantz AVRs in 2014 and as others have noted, hasn't really taken hold in the USA. Until recently, Denon/Marantz was the only major brand AVR mfr that featured Auro 3D; however, the new 2021 Yamaha Aventage models (A6A and A8A) are scheduled to receive an Auro 3D firmware update at some point in the future.

Auro 2D works ok, but the steering of the centre channel is not as good as the old Dolby ProLogic IIx algorithm. Please AV Amplifier manufacturers...bring back Dolby ProLogic IIx.

Oct 12, 2007 · In a smaller room, it'll be less of an issue period. The type of speakers may effect things as well (how well they phantom image, off-axis response, etc.). Auro-3D 8.1 is really more of a dual-layer modern "Quad" format with a center channel thrown in at 9.1 (top surround and/or center height added at 10.1 & 11.1).
