The VW 3.6 FSI engine is a VR6 (narrow V family EA390) gasoline 3.6-liter engine. It was first introduced to Audi Q7 in 2005 (BHK and BHL engines) and later to other VW vehicles: Passat R36 and CC (BLV, BWS), Phaeton (CHNA and CMVA), Touareg (CGRA and etc.). The 3.6-liter version was build from the 3.2 V6 FSI engine installed in Audi models.

The new VW/Audi 3.6 VR6, like all previous FSI engines, produces outstanding torque and power while consuming less gasoline than traditional engines of comparable displacement.

May 5, 2022 · Ian swapped the inline-four for a 3.6 L VR6 from a R36 Passat B6 wagon producing 300 hp and 266 lb-ft. He also replaced the factory FWD drivetrain for an AWD Quattro drivetrain from a TT with a 3.2 L VR6. He kept the stock DQ250 transmission but will eventually swap to a manual transmission.
