One day, Atsushi wakes up to find Dazai visiting him early in the morning, then tells him that they must go on a mission together far away from Yokohama. Little does he know the real reason of their misterious journey.

Dazai is the first member of the agency Atsushi meets, encountering him when rescuing him from drowning in a river. Dazai quickly assumes responsibility for him, taking him to eat and happily conversing with him.

Feb 27, 2023 · I am genuinely curious about what Dazai thinks of Atsushi. Not in a romantic way but more of a does he really care about him? Or does he see him as a project or validation to prove to himself and oda that he has changed?

May 22, 2023 · We've seen Atsushi think of Dazai whenever he's in trouble and Dazai sharing the Stray Dogs toast with Atsushi after only having done it with Ango and Odasaku, arguably the two closest people to him. My favorite relationship in all of BSD is Atsushi and Dazai's relationship because of how multi-faceted it is.

Oct 1, 2016 · Atsushi and Dazai were simply enjoying a rare peaceful moment in the Agency where they could go to the cafe downstairs and drink a nice cup of coffee. However, a friend, waitress, manager, and Kunikida all try to make it more interesting.

Dazai doesn't think of himself as a good mentor, but he believes he has to train Akutagawa and Atsushi out of necessity. Hence the manipulative methods towards both. With Atsushi, there is indication that Dazai is actually willing to go the extra mile to help him escape his own self-pity pit.
