In its strategy published last week, Romania targets over 280,000 t/yr renew-able hydrogen production by 2030, utilising 3.99GW of electrolyser capacity. The electrolyser goal far exceeds Bulgaria’s 1GW for the end of the decade and the 1.2GW envisaged by Greece. It even outstrips Turkey’s goal of 2GW.

It will face competition from US refiner Phillips 66 and Swiss firm H2 Energy, which are collaborating to deploy up to 250 refuelling stations across Germany, Austria. and Denmark, it was announced in February.
