Jul 28, 2023 · The Argus C is a simple 35mm camera made from 1938-1939 by Argus, Inc. of Ann Arbor, Michigan. Its rangefinder lacks the gear coupling to the lens found in the Argus C2 and C3 . Along with the C2 and C3 these cameras are sometimes dubbed "the brick."

The Argus c-four is the very worthy successor to the once-popular C3. Simple, handsome and rugged, it’s got a great comfortable feel like the German and Russian classics at a significantly smaller price.

First released in 1938 as the Argus Model C, the C-series includes the best selling American camera ever made, the Argus C3.

The Argus C3 was a low-priced rangefinder camera mass-produced from 1939 to 1966 by Argus in Ann Arbor, Michigan, United States. The camera sold over 2.2 million units, making it one of the most popular American cameras in history.

Those drawerfuls of slides of Aunt Sarah and Mount Rushmore were very likely taken with the ubiquitous Argus C3. It’s probably the single largest-selling non-single-use 35mm camera in history, which is why you can easily get them in good working condition for $5 – $10 on ebay).

Aug 28, 2019 · Identifying the Argus C-Series. Argus produced the C-series from 1938 through 1966, but there were many changes along the way. Some received updates to the model number, others were just minor cosmetic changes that largely went unnoticed.

C-44/R lenses are quickly identified by their streamlined appearance and recessed fluted barrels, the only Argus lenses so styled. Four lenses were made: 35/4.5, 50/2.8, 50/1.9, 100/3.5. All shared Series VI filters.
