On three sides of Washington University are half million nice houses to $4 million dollar mansions plus a smaller college and a Lutheran seminary. On the 4th side to the east is Forest Park. To the northeast corner of the campus is the Skinker DeBaliviere which has it's dicey parts.

May 24, 2023 · WashU is in an area where that can be a risk but staying on campus should not be a concern due to the police/ campus security presence; it’s a beautiful, safe campus. Generally the further west you go of St Louis, the safer you are.

Apr 23, 2022 · Wash U's campus is right on the line where St. Louis transitions from Urban to Suburban. The area around the campus is still dense and you won't need a car for day-to-day stuff. Once you get past downtown Clayton, it turns suburban pretty quickly.

The neighborhood immediately around WashU is totally fine; people say that north of Delmar is rough, I personally think it's no big deal but if you're worried you can avoid it
