Jul 18, 2021 · They are both delicious drams. Ardbeg 10 would be an introduction to the world of peat and smoke. Try the Ardbeg, and if you like that, graduate to the Laphroaig. It is a bit more medicinal, less sweet. The Ardbeg 10 has a bit more peat (50ppm) but pairs it well with its other complexities. Cheers.

Jan 15, 2021 · I recently picked up a bottle of the wee beastie since I wanted to try an ardbeg and it was in stock while the 10 wasn’t. From what I heard about the 10, it’s campfire smoke or like a bbq smoked meats kinda deal. And I heard the wee beastie was just a younger version of that basically at half the age.

An Oa is sweeter and absolutely smoother on its entrance, there's still plenty of that Ardbeg smoke, but it is now more like coffee, like chocolate, and like a creamy toffee.

Oct 19, 2023 · Ardbeg has not yet officially announced this release, and it hasn’t been released in the UK. It’s out in America, where Ardbeg has less control over its distribution due to the three tier system here. The same thing happened with Hypernova (I got a bottle two weeks before Ardbeg announced it) and Fermutation.

Feb 6, 2021 · IMO PC10 is much more balanced than Lagavulin 16. Ardbeg 10 is in-between. Judging from the comments and reviews I have seen and my experience and similar opinions of Ardbeg 10 good, Laphroig/HP12 meh- I would say base your decision on the direction from Ardbeg 10. For more smoky/peaty go Uigeadail, for more balanced go PC10.

Sep 27, 2021 · Ardbeg 10 is a clear winner for me, and if you want a similar quality peated whisky at that same price, it doesn't exist. For a little more money, the Uigaedail and Corryvreckan are similar earthy-briney peat with higher ABV and a little more complexity and finish.

The Ardbeg and Laphroaig distilleries both have their own profiles that are a bit distinct from Lagavulin. Laphroaig is a bit more medicinal and briney, Ardbeg has a bit more of an intense, campfirey smoke to it.
