Dec 28, 2023 · SOS in general means that the only calls you can place through the cellular phone network are emergency (911) ones. There could be various reasons for that. If you have a locked SIM, the carrier (phone company) has protected the SIM with a passcode (PUK code), and yo need to supply that code to use the SIM.

Feb 21, 2023 · The "SOS" means that the Emergency SOS Satellite feature is still available in case of an emergency. If you find that you're in an area that has cellular service but you still are not getting a signal on your iPhone, I would recommend making sure cellular data is enabled.
