Pedicel effects on final fruit size in apple - ISHS
Jul 10, 2019 · During two consecutive years, apple fruit size and both pedicel diameter and length were measured and analyzed. Our results demonstrated that among the genotypes, pedicel diameter was positively correlated with final fruit weight at harvest.
Stone cell formation in the pedicel of pears and apples | Planta
Sep 25, 2023 · The stone cell clusters in the pear were aggregated near the vascular bundle and cortex to support rapid fruit enlargement. On the other hand, the apple pedicel formed a specific sclerenchyma ring, and almost no stone cells were observed in the apple pedicel cortex. The apple pedicel lignification was completed at the early growth development ...
Stone cell formation in the pedicel of pears and apples
Sep 25, 2023 · The apple pedicel had few stone cells in the cortex. The formation of stone cells in pear continued until seven weeks after flowering (WAF), and the density was significantly higher than in apple. The stone cell formation degree (SFD) of …
Vessel differentiation in the pedicel of apple and the effects of …
The growth dynamics of vessel formation and the effect of auxin transport inhibition on vessel differentiation were investigated in the pedicel of developing apple (Malus domestica Borkh.).
Linking Fruit Ca Uptake Capacity to Fruit Growth and Pedicel …
May 9, 2018 · Apple had the poorest xylem functionality with the least development of secondary xylem, but its Ca uptake rate was among the highest. Vessel density, size and area in the pedicel showed no correlation with fruit Ca uptake rate.
Difference in calcium accumulation in the fruit of two apple …
Aug 1, 2023 · Pedicel xylem structure and functionality was lost earlier in ‘Tonami’ compared with ‘Fuji’. The low calcium absorption efficiency, short calcium accumulation time and strong calcium dilution of ‘Tonami’ may be the reasons for its higher sensitivity to bitter pit.
Apple SVP Family MADS-Box Proteins and the Tomato Pedicel …
Pedicel abscission occurs widely in fruit-bearing plants to detach ripe, senescent or diseased organs, and regulation of abscission plays a substantial role in regulating yield and quality in fruit crops.
Pedicel Effects on Fruit Development in Apple - Purdue e-Pubs
The apple fruit pedicel is not only responsible for the attachment of fruit to the tree, but also it provides a connection between the fruit and the source of water and nutrients. The pedicel can be such a factor that affects the apple fruit size.
Evidence for Apoplasmic Phloem Unloading in Developing Apple …
Apple fruit (Malus domestica) is one of the economically important sink organs in which sugar accumulation is a major determinant of yield and quality. This study aims at a better insight into the phloem unloading pathway in apple fruit.
For the first time, stone cells in pear and apple pedicel were studied. The lignification of the pedicel outer part was correlated with flesh, and the secondary cell wall biosynthesis genes were activated. Fruit pedicels act as bridges between the fruit and the shoot.
