Apollo 14 (January 31 – February 9, 1971) was the eighth crewed mission in the United States Apollo program, the third to land on the Moon, and the first to land in the lunar highlands.

Apollo 14 was the first mission to explore the lunar highlands, the bright, old, heavily cratered regions of the Moon that lie above its dark maria plains. It saw the first American in space become the 5th American to walk on the Moon.
