Apr 29, 2020 · Anna Shearer is only six, but has battled Type 1 Diabetes since she was 15 months old. The youngster was inspired to take part in a challenge launched by the JDRF Type 1 Diabetes Charity after getting a Fitbit watch for her birthday.

An accomplished Girl Scout, honor student and athlete, Anna is also a T1D advocate. She participates in the JDRF Walk each year with her basketball team and her brothers’ baseball teams, attends a summer camp for kids with T1D and volunteers as a Junior Ambassador at her chapter’s yearly JDRF Gala.

Anna’s mom serves on committees for JDRF’s Dream Gala and the Walk, while her dad is on the board of directors for the Kansas City Chapter. In addition to her advocacy, Anna is on four competitive dance teams and hopes to dance professionally one day.
