Jul 20, 2023 · Amy's actions in the story are so few and far between that she feels inessential for a majority of the plot, and the things she does do can easily be handed to other characters instead (and in some cases, already have been). Rouge's role is more robust and more personalized; much harder to remove or replace without drastic changes to the plot.

Rouge was a crucial character in the story; Amy was a third wheel who only existed in cutscenes and did basically nothing of value beyond springing sonic from prison and making shadow cry.

Amy in particular is the franchise's primary girl character, so if anything they'd have already announced if she'd be included. Hopefully Amy will get a mid-credits scene for the next movie (assuming they don't jump straight to Silver), and Rouge can show up in a Shadow spinoff (unless it's a miniseries like Knuckles).

While the final boss cutscene has characters like Shadow and Rouge and Team Chaotix grouped together, Amy is paired with Knuckles while Cream appears with Blaze and Silver.
