Aug 21, 2022 · I've used amp sim plugins on several past projects and they sound great, but I'm curious if top studios use amp sim plugins at all or only mic and real amps. I have access to both approaches but have found micing an amp definitely takes more effort and time to get right.

Jun 9, 2023 · I'm on the hunt for the best sounding amp/cab VST plugin. I've been using Neural's Nolly for a pretty long time, but was never quiet happy with the results. The distortion sounds pretty samey with most Neurals to my ear and I've recently checked out the free version of Tonex and wow. Those amp models are really amazing, they sound incredible.

Feb 5, 2020 · I'm only aware of two software products that simulate just a power amp without a preamp. Bias Amp allows you to turn off the preamp and tone stack and just run the power amp and cab. And Ignite amps has a free power amp sim. In my experience, Bias Amp was more convincing, though it colored my tone considerably.

I thought there’s just too many parameters and decided to switch everything off and keep only an amp with a cabinet (no compressor, no reverb, no delay, no drive/distortion …) and expected to get something decent just like I would play with a combo tube amp.
