I watched a video a few years back (can't recall which one) that saying 'Amen' at the end of prayers is equal to praying to some Egyptian god "Amen-Ra", and not to Yahweh, whom we are intending to pray to. Is this true? And if it is true, how should we be ending prayers? •••

Aug 6, 2011 · Psalm 104 in the KJV is very similar to the Hymn to Aten(The Sun God, Amen Ra) which was written by Pharaoh Ikhnaton during the New Kingdom of Egyptian history. Also, some of our commandments were originally from the Egyptian Book of the Dead. Ikhnaton is the father of monotheism.

Mar 3, 2017 · It's derived from the Hebrew "amuth/aman" meaning "truth" as translated here: Isaiah 65:16 (so if it did mean "Amen Ra" - it doesn't - that would mean that the OT God is the God of Amen, and thus two different beings). It means "hidden" in Egyptian. Phonically similar but different words altogether.
